Data Engineering Lead – Financial Services
📍 Sydney (Hybrid) | 💼 | 💰 Up to $200,000 incl. super
We have partnered with a global financial services advisory business who work with some of the leading financial service businesses across APJ. This business has scaled across multiple countries and helps businesses make data process improvements and deliver modern data transformations.

We are on the lookout for someone who can sit comfortably between hands-on engineering, client engagement, and leadership. Someone who can build scalable pipelines and hold a room with stakeholders. That’s the gap we’re solving.
What makes this role different?
This isn’t a heads-down delivery role.
You’ll be joining a tight-knit, specialist consultancy working deeply in financial services, across Australia and Asia. They are niche by design, which means better quality work, long-term client relationships, and genuine influence on how things are built.
You’ll be trusted to:
- Lead data engineering delivery for client engagements
- Act as a technical advisor (not just a task-taker)
- Manage up, manage clients, and operate independently
- Build scalable cloud-based data platforms
- Help shape the data engineering practice as it grows
You’ll be the Data Engineering Lead on projects, owning architecture decisions, guiding teams, and providing oversight across multiple engagements.
The tech stack you’ll be working with:
You don’t need to tick every box, but strong experience in most of these is important:
- Databricks
- Microsoft Fabric
- Snowflake
- Azure
- ETL / ELT pipelines
- Custom scripting & automation
- Scalable cloud data architectures
Who we’re looking for:
- 5–7+ years experience
- Proven leadership on data projects
- Able to independently run engagements
- Comfortable advising clients and leading delivery
Bonus points if you bring:
- Consulting experience
- Financial services exposure
- Experience translating business problems into technical solutions
