Corporate Action Specialist (Financial Securities, Brokerage)

The Corporate Actions Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end management of mandatory and voluntary corporate action events. This role ensures that all event data is captured accurately, processed timely, and reflected correctly across client accounts. You will act as a key liaison between the front office, prime brokerage desks, and external custodians to mitigate financial and operational risk.
Responsibilities:
As a corporate action specialist, you’ll deliver:
- Voluntary Elections: Manage the lifecycle of voluntary events, ensuring client instructions are received, validated, and submitted to market counters ahead of strict deadlines.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Partner with Trading, Risk, and Client Service teams to provide technical expertise on the impact of complex events on various financial instruments (Equities, CFDs, and Fixed Income).
- Reconciliation: Perform daily cash and stock reconciliations to ensure accurate booking of corporate action entitlements and tax withholdings.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows and enhance the scalability of the corporate actions platform.
- Compliance: Maintain a robust control environment in accordance with internal risk policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., ASIC/FINRA/FCA standards).
Candidate Profile:
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in Corporate Actions or Back Office Operations within a brokerage, investment bank, or custodian.
- Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of the mechanics of global equity markets and the specific impact of corporate actions on derivative products.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in industry platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, SWIFT) and advanced Excel skills. Experience with automated corporate action processing systems is highly regarded.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and the ability to work under high pressure during peak market activity.
- Communication: Ability to translate complex corporate events into clear, actionable information for internal and external stakeholders.
