About the job
Financial Controller
Global Multi Asset Trading Platform, Part-Time
This Financial Controller/Senior Accountant mandate is on a part-time basis (initially 3 days per week). This role is specifically designed for a sophisticated controllership and reporting specialist who thrives on owning the month-end close, consolidation, audit strategy, and financial process uplift within a complex trading platform environment.
Working in lockstep with the CFO and the executive leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in driving audit readiness, institutionalizing reporting discipline, and positioning the group for future capital markets transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Financial Control: Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across a complex, multi-entity, multi-currency group—managing journals, reconciliations, eliminations, and reporting timelines.
- Financial & Management Reporting: Prepare institutional-grade management accounts, monthly Board packs, and statutory financial statements with comprehensive supporting disclosures under AASB / IFRS.
- Balance Sheet Substantiation: Own and elevate the group’s balance sheet controls, reconciliations, and accounting support files to ensure rigorous audit readiness.
- Audit & Compliance Leadership: Act as the primary interface for external auditors, coordinating workflows and delivering high-quality, well-supported financial data.
- Complex Transaction Accounting: Navigate the technical accounting nuances of a high-volume trading platform, including revenue recognition, client money/segregated trust accounts, related-party flows, and debt/equity instruments.
- Data & Systems Optimization: Partner with Operations and Technology teams to ensure the integrity, completeness, and control of data flows between the trading platform and finance systems.
- Strategic Finance Support: Support the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and variance reporting to drive board-level decision-making.
- Finance Uplift & Capital Readiness: Collaborate with the CFO and external advisors on technical accounting positions, reporting remediation, and capital markets readiness workstreams.
Candidate Profile:
- Credentials: CA or CPA qualified.
- Technical Rigour: Deep expertise in statutory reporting, multi-entity consolidations, and complex financial control frameworks under AASB / IFRS.
- Industry Experience: A proven track record within fintech, brokerage, FX/CFD trading, payments, or a similarly regulated, high-volume transactional environment.
- Tech-Forward Mindset: Advanced Excel capabilities coupled with experience in modern ERPs (e.g., NetSuite, Xero). Comfort leveraging AI-assisted productivity tools to optimize reconciliations and workflows, is highly valued.
- Professional Alignment: You are a methodical, detail-oriented controllership expert who genuinely enjoys the
- technical architecture of finance, rather than someone looking for an immediate CFO pathway. You bring the execution focus that perfectly complements a commercially driven CFO.
Good to Have:
- Direct experience with client money/trust account frameworks and segregated asset environments.
- A background in Big 4/Mid-Tier audit, technical accounting advisory, or IPO/listing readiness.
- Exposure to cross-border, multi-jurisdictional corporate structures.
What is on Offer:
- Autonomy & Impact: A rare part-time opportunity offering true ownership and direct exposure to a sophisticated, fast-growing financial markets business.
- Intellectual Challenge: Engage with complex, high-volume data and technical accounting structures that will keep your skills sharp.
- Build a Legacy: Help transition an agile finance function into an institutional-grade operation poised for capital markets success.
Additional notes:
- Please be advised that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
